UPK launches new imprint with editor Crystal Wilkinson to celebrate stories of the Black experience

University Press of Kentucky announces a new publishing imprint Screen Door Press which will be edited by award-winning and critically acclaimed author Crystal Wilkinson. 致力于发现独特, 异常, and varied voices within Black literary traditions, the imprint will celebrate the very best in fiction — short stories, novellas and novels — across a broad range of categories. The goal of Screen Door Press is to publish thought-provoking books that feature relatable characters, 强大的故事, and beautiful language to champion diverse views from throughout the Black diaspora.

Applications are now being accepted for Explore First: Careers, 文化与联系, a unique education abroad program designed exclusively for first-gen students at the 火狐体育下注.

UK named 2023 HEED Award recipient, Diversity Champion by INSIGHT Into Diversity

这是连续第七年, 《火狐体育官网入口》杂志, the oldest and largest diversity-focused publication in higher education, has recognized the 火狐体育下注 as a Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award recipient.

The HEED Award recognizes colleges and universities that demonstrate an outstanding commitment to diversity and inclusion. Open to all colleges and universities across the U.S. 和加拿大, HEED measures an institution’s level of achievement and intensity of commitment in regard to broadening diversity and inclusion on campus through initiatives, programs and outreach; student recruitment, retention and completion; and hiring practices for faculty and staff.

UK Named a 2022 'Best Employer for Diversity' by Forbes for the fourth year in a row

The 火狐体育下注 has been ranked on the Forbes list of "Best Employers for Diversity" in 2022. Partnering with market reSearch company Statista, Forbes’ annual list recognizes businesses with at least 1,000 employees who demonstrate a strong commitment to inclusive workplace practices. 

“To me, this is the greatest indicator of progress,” said Vice President Katrice Albert. "I am thrilled to have the privilege to work with passionate faculty, 教职员及学生 dedicated to ensuring everyone knows they belong at the 火狐体育下注.
